I was fortunate enough to attend the Austin Fashion Week 2010 kick-off event last Saturday, August 14, 2010 at the GSD&M Idea City in Austin, Texas. I had my press credentials and was able to cover the Red Carpet events, the happenings, fashion show and 80s Pop Star Tiffany’s performance. Overall, it was a very fun and memorable fashion event.
The food and drinks were overflowing, and complimentary might I add. Drinks included Tito’s Vodka, Cruz Tequila, Treaty Oak Rum, Paula’s Texas Spirits, Waialua Soda, Modmix, Sweet Leaf Tea, and Smart Water. The food were provided by Cru, Mama Fu’s, Frank, My Fit Foods, Imperia, How Do You Roll, Tart, Delish, and Cornucopia. While people eat and drink, there was a Silent Auction going on inside the building.
The event was hosted by CW Austin star Kendall Beard. 80s Pop Star Tiffany performed a number of her 80s hits and mixed in some of her latest songs as well. After the performance was another break to finalize the Silent Auction inside. After a couple of minutes, the runway show started with Twelfth Street by Cynthia Vincent and Robert Stock for Robert Graham. The 24 Austin Mash Up Teams composed of local artists, designers, jewelry designers and models concluded the event. After the show, DJ Manny asked the people to go up the ramp and dance the night away.
